Richard Vanstreader

Sherwood - Richard A. Vanstreader 66 years of Sherwood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in his residence. Richard was born November 10, 1958, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Earl Vanstreader and Louise Farris. He attended Defiance High School. Richard was employed by Ron Kuhn Automotive as a detailer, beginning in 1979, and retiring in 2025. He was a member of the Defiance Eagles Aerie 372. Richard enjoyed car racing, especially NASCAR, stock cars, going to swap meets and putting together and collecting models.

Surviving are his three children, Dustin Vanstreader, Tim Snider Vanstreader, Brian Snider Vanstreader; three stepchildren, Susan Smith, David Smith, and Chris Westrick; six grandchildren; four siblings, Ken Vanstreader, Dan (Anissa) Farris Vanstreader, Pat Shock and Kathy (Terry) Kilgore. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Ray Vanstreader and stepson, Zeb Smith.

Visitation for Richard A. Vanstreader will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, followed immediately by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.
