Al Pizone Obituary

PIZONE Al Pizone, age 86, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of Helen (Taylor) Pizone. Al was born in Bridgeport, on July 6, 1922, son of the late Louis and Marie (Maturi) Pizone, and lived in Bridgeport before moving to Shelton in 1963, where he lived ever since. He proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. Al was a self-employed tailor in Bridgeport and then Shelton until his retirement. He was the beloved father of Robert Pizone and his wife, Laura, and Ellen Rubin and her husband, Michael. He was the loving grandfather of Jeffrey Rubin and Christine Pizone; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Julius, and Joseph Pizone. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. His funeral service will begin in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Monroe. At the request of his family, contributions can be made to the Hospice Home Care Division of Visiting Nurse service of CT, 84 Oxford Rd., Oxford, CT 06478.
