Albert Rogo Obituary
Faith, Family, and a great round of golf… Albert Dominic Rogo, born on December 9, 1922, died on February 8, 2023, at 100 years young.
After graduating from Old Forge High School in Pennsylvania, he moved to Bridgeport in the mid-1940s and spent his working years as a model maker at Bryant Electric in Bridgeport, where he was a vital member of their softball and bowling leagues.
Albert brought Vilma, his bride, to Bridgeport in 1950, and together they raised three children, using to the fullest the many opportunities Bridgeport offered. Albert taught his children to swim at Seaside Park, to love animals at the Beardsley Zoo, to read at the North Branch of the Bridgeport Public Library, and - for those willing to learn - to golf at Fairchild Wheeler.
Though his recent pastimes were quiet ones - reading, watching classic movies or sports (especially the Mets, Giants, Penn State Football, and UConn men's and women's basketball) - Albert was always active. He golfed, gardened, volunteered (Meals on Wheels), and enjoyed making and fixing things well into his mid-90s.
Chief among his passions was his devotion to his family by whom he is survived - his three children: Barbara Rogo, Gary (and Carol) Rogo, and Nancy Rogo (and Eric) Trainer; his grandchildren, Kara Rogo (and Jeff) DeFressine, Marisa Rogo, Cameron Trainer, and Aidan Trainer; and great-grandchildren Leah and Maya DeFressine; and most especially, his wife Vilma, who after 72 years of marriage, remains the love of his life and apple of his eye. When asked for his secret to longevity, Albert's answer was always "a good wife".
Albert D. Rogo lived a very good life. He will be greatly missed.
His life will be celebrated at a Mass at St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
