Celia Catullo Obituary

Celia Capasso Catullo
Celia (Cele) Capasso Catullo, age 101, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Angelo Catullo, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on January 10,1921, she was a daughter of the late Giovanni and Sanita Felicella Capasso. Cele was educated at Read School, Central High School, Butler Business School and the Warren Institute. She retired from the City of Bridgeport Board of Education as an administrative assistant, after 25 years of dedicated service. Cele sparked laughter in the office and her sense of humor and bright face was a delight to all of her coworkers. But above all things, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Affectionately known as grammie/gram to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she will always be remembered for her famous Toll House and Italian cookies, as well as her meatballs. She was at her best at every holiday when the entire family was together creating memories and enjoying her special food and treats. The unconditional love she gave will forever live in their hearts and Cele will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include her loving daughters, Diane LaBrecque and her husband William and Therese Buchla and her husband Bruce; five cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Rydelek (Greg), Audra Vitti (Jeff), Keith Donahue, Mark Catullo (Kari) and Ryan George (Annette); 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Madlyn Karpinski; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Patrick, Anthony, John and Ralph Capasso; and two sisters, Palma Iodice and Virginia Cellini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Entombment will be private. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.To leave an online condolence, please visit www.abriola.com

Diane,Theresa and entire family, My heart is full of emotions as I try to pay tribute to my Beloved Aunt. I believe her spirit is rejoicing in Heaven because she is in the arms of our Lord, her family, friends and all who have come to welcome her into heaven; All of whom she loved more than life, where life is everlasting with joy, love and peace. I will forever miss her, our awesome talks, shared stories and laughs that always touched my heart. It was my honor to take her name on my confirmation day. So many shared memories to cherish all the days of my life until I see her again. I love you forever, enjoy your journey.

Aunt Cele hosted Christmas Eve every year and somehow made it work for an impossible number of guests with a big smile and a pinch on the cheek for everyone. We have great memories of Aunt Cele from Florida as well.
