Charles "Charlie" Golden, 89, of Boca Raton, FL and formerly of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Hospice By The Sea. Charles was born in Brooklyn to the late Anna and Abraham Golden. He lived most of his life in the Bronx before moving to Connecticut. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country proudly as a paratrooper in the US Army. He loved to tell stories and recount his days with his children and grandchildren. We were lucky to find letters that he wrote to his family that described this time of his life. Before his retirement, he owned Ansco Exterminators for over 50 years and was a respected business man in the community. He had a strong business ethic, worked extremely hard, and loved his customers. He was a member of the Loyalty Lodge and enjoyed many Sunday mornings playing cards with the 'Bagel Club' at the JCC or calling the Bingo numbers for the members. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and worked at Ebbets field as a teen. He also loved to play golf, tennis, bowling, cards, and crossword puzzles. He loved to travel with his friends & family. But most of all, he was a loving family man. He adored his wife, children and grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than to be with his family. His biggest heartbreak was losing his son, Scott in 1984. He is survived by his loving wife Anne of 59 years (Boca Raton, FL) and devoted daughters Abby (Larry) Rohinksy and their children Alexis, Austin, Adam and Rachel and Marni (Paul) Vinci and their children Sarah and Mark all of Fairfield, CT. He was predeceased by his first born son, Scott. He also leaves behind his brother Harold (Laura) Golden of Florida, his sister Bernice Gelman of California, and many nieces and nephews.
His family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Hospice By The Sea in Boca Raton, FL for their compassionate care. Services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, at Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Loyalty Cemetery, 172 Burroughs Road in Fairfield. Shiva will be observed locally at the home of Abby and Larry Rohinsky, 120 Sherley Place in Fairfield, on Sunday, August 16, Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18 with a 7:00 p.m. service each night.
