Darryl Meehan Obituary

MEEHAN Darryl Anthony Jackson-Meehan, age 43 beloved husband, father and friend, passed-away suddenly on February 11, 2012 at St. Vincent's Hospital. Darryl was born in Bridgeport, on March 18, 1968, to Thomas Joseph Meehan and Patricia Jane Jackson. Darryl lived an honorable and heroic life. He served in the U.S. Air Force from November of 1989 to August 2004, in operations Desert Storm, the Balkan Campaign, and the Far East (Korea and Japan). He worked at the Veterans Administration in West Haven, CT in the accounting and social work departments. Darryl was also affiliated with the Errera Community Center (West Haven, CT). He was a graduate of Woodstock Academy (CT), Park College (MO), and Valdosta State University (GA). Darryl was an accomplished musician, artist, and composer. He played piano, violin, flute, Japanese Koto, Guitar, and various percussion instruments. Darryl loved various genre of music but Jazz was his favorite. Darryl had a captivating and majestic smile that was intoxicating but inviting, once you were invited into his circle there was no doubt that you were loved by him at all times. He was a generous care giver to friends and family. His gregarious personality and love for food attracted people to him. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. Darryl was loved by many. He is survived by his wife Dalila Franco-Meehan, son Kito Segawa-Meehan of Misawa, Japan, father Thomas and wife Bonita Meehan of Venice, Fl. Brother Ryan Meehan and wife Jillian of Warwick, RI, and Sister Dani McLeod and husband Robert of Seymour, CT. He is also survived by a loving friend and sister-in-law Daniela Franco, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Millie and Albert Meehan, Eloise Brown, Janie Felton and mother Patricia, one sister Jayme Walker, one brother Issac Jackson. Darryl's greatest passion in life, to all who knew him was music. He and his talents will be greatly missed by his family, friends and music world. His memory will not be forgotten. His celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the John J. Sullivans Restaurant, 557 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, CT. To the Meehans-

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Darryl. I had the pleasure of working with him. He did anything he was asked to do and do it well. He was soft spoken and very intelligent.
