Iris Clayton-Jackson Obituary

CLAYTON-JACKSON Iris Patricia Clayton-Jackson, age 46 of Bridgeport, left us involuntarily, early morning on June 23, 2010 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Mrs. Clayton-Jackson was born April 25, 1964, in Bridgeport. On that date, she was accompanied by her twin brother, Ivan, on her journey into this world, however, this journey back, she must take alone. She was the youngest daughter of Ivan and Louvern Clayton. She graduated from Bassick High School and continued her education at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Iris was employed by the City of Bridgeport as a dispatcher in the CAD division. Iris, affectionately nick named Sis or Sista, I, Ski, or Iski by friends and family, everyone felt they had their own special relationship with her and their special name. She enjoyed jewelry making, music, traveling, and surfing the net for all things from finding recipes to holistic remedies. She was fun loving, loyal, intuitive, and possessed a keen sense of style. Her natural comedic gifts blessed her family and friends with many years of joy. She was a young strong woman that was loved and admired by the many whose life she touched, she was everybody's SISTER. She is survived by her husband, Daren Jackson, of Bridgeport; her adored "Boys," Kye Jackson and Brey Jackson; her mother, Louvern Clayton of Stratford; her twin brother, Ivan Clayton, Jr, and his wife, Aronette of Bridgeport; her sisters, Agnes Joines and her husband, Keith of West Haven, Lois Lewis, and her husband, Larry of Bridgeport and Valerie Clayton-Jamison of Stratford. She was the adored aunt to Nicole, Chelsea, Amber, Keith, Aryn, Lance, and King; special cousins, Brian, Monica, Russell, Leslie, and Jalisa; additional cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Clayton, Sr., former educator in the Bridgeport Public Schools, when she was 13 years of age. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Messiah Baptist Church, 210 Congress Street, Bridgeport at 11 a.m. Viewing will take place at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Tyrone P. Jones, Pastor will be officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Stratford, CT. Professional services entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Avenue, Bridgeport.

To the Clayton-Jackson Family,
"I" will truly be missed she was definitely a glowing light unto many of us. I've the opportunity to work with her and learn a great deal. A road trip brought us closer together as we shopped for beads in Virginia. I will never forget her laugh and her open heart that she shared with so many. May God bring comfort to your hearts in your time of sorrow.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mother was a special person who I always looked forward to seeing. I won't forget her grin as she dropped Brey off in the morning. I know she has high expectations for both of you and I hope you will work to live up to them. She always wanted the best for you so now you need to make it happen. Your extended family at 6 to 6 and TMMS will always be here for you.

My deepest condolences to the family. I am happy that Iris shared her rose journey on this side of the wall with me. Now her journey is on the other side of the wall where she must grow and continue to share more of her rose journey.
