Jack Halpert Obituary

HALPERT Jack B. Halpert, age 86 of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. Mr. Halpert was born in Bridgeport, a son of the late Morris and Rose (Levi) Halpert, and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Halpert was a U. S. Air Force veteran having served overseas during World War II. Mr. Halpert was a board member and vice president at The Inwood, a volunteer and counselor for S.C.O.R.E., and was a vice president of The Plymouth Electric Company of North Haven and The Zenith Corporation. Mr. Halpert also served on the Consumer Protection Board for the State of Connecticut Occupational Licensing Division, and was a recruiter specialist for AARP. Mr. Halpert is survived by his beloved wife, Bess C. Halpert of Bridgeport; his devoted children, Beth-Anne Halpert and her husband Jonathan Ellman, of Wayland, Mass.., Peter Halpert and his wife, Judith Sherman, of Harare, Zimbabwe, Lesley Aaron and her husband, Mark, of Brookfield and Claudia Battle and her husband, Lawrence, of Cambridge, Mass.; his cherished sister, Shirley Jacob Lantz and her husband, Rabbi Jacob Lantz, of Bridgeport; and by his adored grandchildren, Meghan, Sarah, Rachel, Danya, Ladawnna0, Molly, Gregory, Joshua, Jesse, Abby, Zoe and Sage; and great-grandson, Jonathan. Mr. Halpert is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. Harold Silver and his wife, Pearl, of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following in B'nai Israel Cemetery on Kings Highway in Fairfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to Congregation B'nai Israel or to The Jewish Home for the Elderly.
