James Awad Obituary

AWAD Mr. James H. Awad, age 79 of Westport, husband of Vera Nolan Awad, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 13th at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by his family. Mr. Awad was born October 20, 1929 in Ashland, Mass., son of the late Joseph and Rose Awad, and has been a longtime resident of Westport. Prior to retiring in 1988, Mr. Awad was employed by IBM for 33 years as a director of marketing for Office Products in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He is a 1952 graduate of Boston College and a member of the Westport Y's Men. Mr. Awad was also an avid golfer and gardener and a former volunteer fundraiser for Save the Children. In addition to his wife of 51 years, survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Bartolone of Bellevue, Wash.; three sons, James G. Awad of Westport, William J. Awad and his wife, Allyne of NYC, and Gerard Awad and his wife, Stephanie of Stratford; two sisters, Ernestine Morse of Framingham, Mass., and Rosemary Flaherty of Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis and Chloe Awad; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Awad was also predeceased by four brothers, Albert, George, Philip and Robert Awad. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2009 meeting directly at Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Rd. N., Westport. Interment will be private. The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Westport Vol. EMS, 50 Jesup Road, Westport, CT 06880.
