Joyce Slater Obituary
Joyce E. Slater, age 89, of Stratford, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Slater.
Joyce was born in New York City to the late Helen and Ernest Elliott. She had resided in Stratford for most of her life. She and her late husband traveled extensively throughout the world. Joyce and Richard were the owners of "Dick's Magic Kitchen", a Stratford landmark for many years. She had also been an administrator for the school lunch program in Trumbull. Joyce was the consummate entertainer. She loved to plan and prepare elegant dinner parties at her home.
She is survived by her beloved cousins, Michael Dennis, Geraldine Scanzillo, Judy Corica, Carol Howard, Tom Gill and Richard Link; and a dear friend, Bonnie Paradise.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Memorial contributions may be made to either Stratford Historical Society, 967 Academy Hill, Stratford, CT 06615 or Square One Theater Co., 2422 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615.
