Keith Carter Obituary

Carter, Keith A..
Keith A. Carter, Age 58, of Monroe, CT, passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2014. He was born on May 12, 1956 in Plattsburg, NY and at the age of 13 moved with his family to Milford, CT. He graduated from Jonathan Law High School in 1974, the Connecticut School of Electronics in 1992, and attended the University of New Haven. For 37 years, he was a dedicated and loyal employee of Sikorsky Aircraft, rising to the position of Supervisor of Internal Logistics and Transportation within the Supply Management Organization. He was an active member of the Foreman's Club and it was a joy for him to attend all of the events. His love for helicopters was evident and his presence was known to many people throughout the Company.
He lived life to the fullest. The center of his life was his family, his friends, and his labrador retrievers. As a newlywed, he lived in Milford and West Haven, CT. He and his family moved to Monroe in 1995. He enjoyed coaching a variety of sports and was an active member of the Chain-Gang for the Masuk High football team. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the UConn Huskies. He loved spending time outdoors, having back-yard picnics, taking long rides on his motorcycle with his wife and traveling. He was a volunteer for the United Way, American Cancer Society, and various other fundraising activities through the Sikorsky Motorcycle Club.
He was a role model and confidant to many people, young and old alike. His caring ways and his love for life will remain with all those who had the honor and privilege to know, love, or simply meet him.
He is survived by the love of his life, Gale M. (Belush) Carter, his three beloved sons, Ryan J. Carter, Kristopher W. Carter, and Tyler K. Carter. Additionally, he is survived by his sister and his brothers; Ann Haines, Nicholas Carter, Jeffrey Carter, Robert Carter, and several nieces and nephews. Gale, Ryan,Kris, Tyler
What do we say when someone who is suddenly gone? Such a shock such a loss to both the Carter Family and the Belush Family. The one thing I saw over this week is that all of us won't let Keith down. We are all here for my sister and her boys, and also for all of us. In someways we all have become one big family. The showing of love and respect for my brother in law Keith and his family was totally unbelievable. We had more fun with him over the years raising our kids together. We all had situations that were told over this past week that made you cry and made you laugh. I just want all of you to know that Keith will never be forgotten. He had a booming voice that could be heard for miles. As my nephew Kris said, his laughter was contagious. The last thing I want to say is if you were at the burial. No one wanted to leave and just prior to my sister getting up a helicopter flew over. I believe that was a sign from Keith and God saying all is okay. I love you Keith. Gale, Ryan,Tyler and Chris we are here for you always.

Thank you, Keith, for introducing me to steve, who gave me my two beautiful sons. I will never forget volleyball, our speedskating adventure or our trips to Florida. Kris was my adorable ring bearer and we had to plan our schedule perfectly to be home from our honeymoon to watch Ryan and kris when Tyler was born! And we did!!!!! Nina and I will watch over Gale like you two always have had my back- even if I was stubborn and said I didn't need help!
Love ya, Bub!

To the family of my friend Keith, I wanted to express my deepest sympathy during this very difficult time. I worked with Keith daily, and I am forever grateful to have spent each and every day laughing and conversing with him. I miss that and miss him so much already. Keith took me under his wing and treated me with the utmost respect. Keith was always watching out for me and always had my best interests at heart. He checked on me daily and we helped each other out no matter what. I especially miss his witty stories and jovial character, and I'll never forget how humorous he thought it was to tell his boys that Tyler was up in Keene a few weeks back!! We laughed like crazy! I am also so thankful that I got to talk to him Friday afternoon. It was Keith who helped me through a bind, and I will never forget the many times he did that for me. I am truly blessed to have known and been in the company of such a kind, caring, and generous man. His legacy will always be with me.

How do you say goodbye to a friend ? Being at Sikorsky for 25 years, Keith has been in my work life the whole time.I worked with him in every aspect of tool control mostly in the tool cribs. He was always there for me either in person or by phone. He was my adviser, teacher, and my friend. I would see him outside sikorsky once in a while. He was there for me when my mother died. He knew my family. I saw him last week and the last thing he said was say hi to your daughter for me. He will be in our hearts forever. How do you say goodbye to a friend? You can't.. <3

To the Carter family.
I had the pleasure knowing Keith back in 1973 working at Alexander's department store.
We met again at Sikorsky, and enjoyed talking about our younger years. Keith was always a pleasure to work with and always took good care of my team. I will miss our daily hello's in the hallway, and conversation's about anything. He will be dearly missed and will always have a place in my heart.I happen to be out of the country and apologize for not being able to attend his services.

October 29, 2014

To the Family,

Keith was one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. He was a patient at the office that I work at - he would always take time to ask how I was doing and how my daughter was doing (she is disabled) - he was just a very sincere "gentleman". For a total stranger to feel this bad upon hearing of his passing I can't imagine what his family is going thru. Please know that if he was on this earth to make people happy than he went above and beyond! I am sure he will be missed dearly.

Having just had a nice chat with Keith at work this past Thursday, I was heartbroken to find out over the weekend that he passed away. What a funny, kind and nice guy to know. Our paths didn't cross often but when they did it was a pleasure. I can so clearly see his smiling face as he walked away from our conversation wishing me a nice weekend. My goodness how life can change in an instant. I am so very sad for his loving family. No words can ease your pain for long but I do hope you find comfort in knowing how well thought of Keith was.

Keith was a true comfort in my life while raising my daughters in CT and MA--away from home. He would bring lunch (and the sunshine) and warm our souls. I knew he was only a phone call away, if needed. After my oldest daughter became critically ill and was left on life support, he was one of the few men, who would truly ask how she was--and wasn't afraid to ask details--and he was a true man who hugged-- with tears. He and his brother Jeff appeared at our Sister, Molly's wake--and it was so healing--that's what Keith's presence was. I feel blessed to have seen him at Nikkii's camp in August, in NY. His spirit will live on. May we all be kinder than necessary--as Keith, indeed, was.

It was with deep sadness and shock that I learned of Keith's passing. We worked together at Sikorsky for at least a decade and spoke with him almost weekly, coming to know his ready smile and easy manner. Keith was soft-spoken in a difficult work place, yet his calm and assertive way earned him the respect of coworkers and management alike. Somehow Keith learned I was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB a year before he moved and this led to many conversations about The North Country and his family there. After work I would ride my bicycle past the Carter's home in Monroe and, more often than not, Keith would be working in the yard. I would always stop to talk and it was during these times that I learned of a man who deeply loved his family. I am so sorry for your loss and pray that your lives will continue to prosper as Keith always wished they would

So saddened to hear of Keith's passing. He always had us laughing when we ran into him around town and working with him on post prom. Our girls thought the world of him and we know how much he will be missed. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I send my deepest sympathy to all of Keith's family. I worked with Keith at Sikorsky. He was a very nice person and always had a funny thing to say to make you laugh. May he rest in peace.

Gail and family, I don't have words to describe how very sorry I am to hear this horrible news. Keith was a very special person. He was so much more than customer. I will always hold him in my heart. An hour would go by during one of our talks at the dealership and it felt like only 5 minutes had passed. God bless.
