Kimberly Caplik Obituary

Kimberly (Hargraves) Caplik
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kimberly Michelle (Hargraves) Caplik, 31, on February 8, 2018. Born March 2, 1986 in Danbury, CT to James R. Jr. and Patricia A. Hargraves and grew up in Bethel, CT. She lived with her loving and adoring husband, Kevin L. Caplik in Middletown, CT with their two dogs - Cali and Gypsy. Kimmy was a kind and beautiful soul whose love for life was contagious. She portrayed life in a colorful manner and if you knew her you were lucky. She was a special, amazing person that touched all those she knew. We are all better people for knowing her. Kim was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and co-worker. She was loving, talented, and artistically creative individual where her love of art lived all around her, finding peace and joy immersing herself in colorful expression. Kim pursued her career in nursing and after hard work and determination she graduated with her RN from Saint Vincent's School of Nursing alongside her brother Matthew Hargraves. She was a caring and passionate nurse that spent many years at Connecticut Valley Hospital. Most recently, she took on a new challenge at the Center for Mental Health at Yale New Haven Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her true soulmate Kevin finding happiness in the woods hiking, fishing, camping just as much as she enjoyed glamming it up in Las Vegas. Kimmy held family tightly and was the glue for us all. Her witty humor, laughter, and overall beauty was infectious and will live on with all of us every day. She supported her nephews, Christopher and Andrew at sporting events. Not only their aunt, but their "Big Sister", always there for them in their time of need. Her niece Charlotte will never remember Kimmy as a person but will know her from all of those who loved and carry her on in our hearts everyday----Kim's tattoo said it best---"I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart." Kim is survived by her adoring husband, Kevin L. Caplik of Middletown, CT, who grew up in Oxford, CT, her mother Patricia A (Goettel) Hargraves of Bethel, CT, her sister Jennifer (Hargraves) and husband Thomas Weyrauch, and their children, Christopher and Andrew Weyrauch. Her brother Sean Hargraves and his family Kirsten, his daughter Charlotte, his step children Jacob and Madison. Her brother Matthew R. Hargraves. In-laws, Carol and Larry Caplik. Brother and sister in-law Mitchell and Laura Caplik and their three children, Gia, Juliana, and Samantha, and both sides extended families. She is predeceased by her father James R. Hargraves, Jr who carried her into the light that evening. She is also predeceased by her grandparents, Harry and Barbara Goettel, and James R. Sr. and Irene Hargraves. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the parlor. Dear Sweet Matt,
My heart breaks for you and your family's sudden and tragic loss. The words you've written about Kimmy are so beautiful that while I never met her, I'm grateful that you've shared even a glimpse of who she was with us. Nobody should have to suffer the loss of a loved one but you are strong Matt, and while your sister isn't physically here with you now, I believe that her spirit, energy, and the love which was and is Kimmy will forever be right here in your heart, in your life, in your laughter and tears, around you and in all places with you. I'm sending you my light and positive energy with the wish that you and your family find peace and feel her with you always.
If there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know.
Love and deepest condolences,
Sandy

I first met Kim at CVS where we both worked as pharm techs. We instantly clicked; I loved working and fooling around with her. She always made everyone smile. She had a great sense of humor. We were both going to school for nursing, different programs, but we shared stories together. Everyone who knew her knows her love for pineapples. I remember seeing a pineapple lamp at sears one day and I had to buy for Kim. Kim was the sweetest, she came to my baby shower with some of our previous coworkers and showered me with gifts. I am truly saddened. She was a beautiful soul. I have never met anyone like her. You will always be in my heart Kim. My prayers go out to her family.

Love you Kim,

Sandy

I survived nursing school with Kim. She made the 3 years much easier than it should have been. I looked up to Kim during our time together. She was smart, talented, funny and that ray of light you just needed, even if you didn't know why. I will cherish our love we shared for craft beer, tequila and food (even though she mainly ate salads). Kim, you were taken too soon but you've touch so many of us in that short time. I am honored to have known and have been loved by you. xxxooo
