Louis Takacs, age 82, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Maria Takacs, entered into eternal life on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Cambridge Rehablitation Center. Born in Szombathely, Hungary on July 23, 1930, Louis was the son of the late Zsigmond Takacs and Margit Kovacs. Louis moved to the United States in 1957 and was a longtime resident of Fairfield. He had worked for the Handy and Harman, Co. for 35 years until his retirement. Louis enjoyed playing the accordion and singing songs at the Hungarian picnics and balls at local Hungarian Churches. In addition to his devoted wife, Maria, Mr. Takacs is survived by his son, Leslie Takacs, and his wife, Christine, of Plainville, Ma.; a daughter, Magdalene Szlama, and her husband, Charles, and their children, Charles and Richie, of Trumbull; a step-daughter, Maria Lorenz, and her husband, Imre; a brother, Zsigmond Takacs, and his family, of Hungary. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Laszlo Kis, and his wife, Marta, and their son, Mate; Gabriella Varga; and many nieces and nephews in Hungary and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife in 1979, Anna Takacs; four sisters; and a brother. For his wish, Louis was cremated and private services will be in Hungary. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
