Marcella Durden Obituary

Marcella Gleason Durden
Marcella Gleason Durden, age 80, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Andrew Durden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Always ready to help and lend her time and energy to others. Marcella was born December 16, 1944 in Bridgeport, CT to the late William and Stephanie Krause Gleason. After losing her father at the age of 10, she helped care for her younger brothers, Howard, Charles and John (Jack), developing a mother's touch that would serve many throughout her life. After graduating Notre Dame High School of Fairfield, she worked her way through the University of Bridgeport, earning a degree in Political Science. She went on to become a technical writer for Sikorsky Aircraft.
In 1971 she married her late husband of 51 years, Andrew, and together raised a family of six children. Marcella was devoted to and sacrificed much for her family, even working two jobs while pregnant with her first child. Marcella enjoyed cooking for her family and perfected making French crepes on Sunday mornings, eggplant parmesan on special occasions and Thanksgiving dinners. She loved fresh flowers, ice cream and being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. We will forever remember Marcella for her humble spirit, bright smile, boundless love and unwavering devotion to her family. Survivors include her six loving children, Daniel and wife Melissa of Trumbull, Diana Quill and husband Patrick of New Canaan, Christine Durden and husband Martin Bures of Medford, MA, Cathleen McCormick and husband Sean of Newtown, James of Monleras, Spain, and Christopher and wife Ashley of Milton, DE, 15 cherished grandchildren, Maxwell and Madeline Durden, Katie, Carolyn, Patrick, Denis, and Thomas Quill, Lincoln and Sterling Bures, Ella, Chase, Zoey, and Olivia McCormick, and Quentin and Robin Durden, three brothers, Howard Gleason, Charles Gleason, Jack Gleason and his wife Tracy, a cousin, Kathleen Lello, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Rose Gleason and Maria Brlej. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Hey Dan and Family-

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was such a kind and caring person-I´ll always remember how she welcomed me and the rest of the crew when we would show up unexpectedly at any hour of the day during our highschool, college and post college years. Always with warmth and making pasta and whatever else was on hand. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear James ,
I am so saddened to hear of your loss. You were such a help in my own life at a time I really needed it and such a credit to your mother.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in the coming days.
With deepest sympathy ,
Susan Dorsey
