Matthew Paul McGuire, age 61 of Wilton, beloved husband and best friend of Mary Ellen (Marcheggiani) McGuire, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 in his home. Born in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late George and Dorothy McGuire, he was raised in Westport and lived in Ridgefield and Wilton. Matthew graduated from Staples High School and Boston College. An avid Soccer player, he played on the state championship team at Staples and for B.C. Matthew coached little league baseball and youth soccer. He loved horseback riding, spending time at the beach, sailing, reading, playing paddle tennis with his buddies at Longshore and traveling, but above all else, Matthew loved spending time with his love, Mary Ellen. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include four beloved siblings, Mark McGuire and his wife Debbie of Southport, Giselle Hauser and her husband Robert of Fairfield, Megan McGuire of Boston, MA and Ann Wortman and her husband John of Groton, MA; and several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. Matthew loved animals of all kinds, thus in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ROAR Donofrio Animal Shelter, 45 South Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877.
