Nicholas Vessia Obituary

VESSIA Nicholas L. Vessia, age 84, of Monroe, beloved husband of Claire Gustianni Vessia, entered into rest on March 24, 2007. Nicholas was born on November 11, 1922 in Manhattan, N.Y., and was the son of the late Dominick and Frances (Gorino) Vessia. Nicholas was a retired antique restorer of early American Antiques. He was noted for his superb crafting talents. He was an artist in many medias including painting, sculpturing, carving, woodworking and metaling. He was a veteran in the United States Navy during World War II and was employed by Brewster Aeronautic and notably innovated the tooling of the first Cosair fighter plane manufactured by them during the war. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, Claire, include two sons, Dominick Vessia and his wife, Susan, of Naugatuck, and John Vessia of Norwalk; a daughter, Sinsook Lee of Norwalk; two sisters, Dolly Vavara of Florida, and Anne Torreli of New York; five nieces, Nancy Pasculi, Janet, Gail, Debbie and JoAnn Gustianni; four nephews, Tommy Torreli, Raymond, David and Joseph Gustianni. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday March 29, 2007, at 10 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe and at 11 a.m. in St. Jude's Church of Monroe, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
