Oliver P. MacKinnon, Jr.
Oliver ("Mack") Perry MacKinnon, Jr., age 73 passed away peacefully on Friday January 8, 2021. He was born on February 25, 1947 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Estelle Cooney and Oliver Perry MacKinnon. He was raised in Nichols, CT and has been a resident of Fairfield, CT for 37 years.
Mack is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anne Curry. He is also survived by his daughter Elizabeth Haak (Andrew) and their children Henry and Georgina, his son Oliver Perry MacKinnon III (Sarah Janisch) and their children Natalie, Amelia, and Estelle, his daughter Abigail McCorry (Brian) and their children Will, Thomas and James, and his son William MacKinnon. Mack is survived by his sister Kathy Wilson (Leslie), nineteen brothers and sisters-in-law, forty nieces and nephews, and forty-one grandnieces and nephews.
Mack was educated at Trumbull High School, Southern Connecticut State University and UCONN. Mack started his professional career at Xerox. In 1979 Mack founded Communication Design Corporation and sold it to Westinghouse in 1989. From there, Mack became the president of Westinghouse Communications Software. In 1992, Mack left Westinghouse and partnered with David Mack in real estate and investment opportunities. He began Highland Capital Corporation where he continued to find prosperous and unique investment opportunities. In 2012 he began, with his family, Highland Imports LLC, a CT based distribution company with national reach. He encouraged his children to follow in his entrepreneurial footsteps.
Mack was an avid golfer and member of Brooklawn Country Club (Fairfield) for 37 years and Old Memorial Golf Club (Tampa). He held additional memberships at the Union League Club (New York City) and the New York Athletic Club (New York City).
In recent years, Mack partnered with friends in a restaurant venture, The Little Goose in Fairfield, CT. This was a happy place for Mack and he was proud of the successes of the restaurant. Moreover, he enjoyed spending time there with his family and friends.
Mack was a memorable man to all who knew him. If you knew him, you had a story about him. He lived more in his 73 years than many who live to see their nineties. Mack was "larger than life." He will be remembered forever for his generosity, love of family, unfailing drive, humor and his wildly entertaining stories.
At this time, the family will be holding a private Mass for Mack at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield.

Our condolences go out to Ann and family. The Mangines family has a three generational connection to to Mack. My parents and Mack and Anne enjoyed many wonderful times at BCC. I also enjoyed some of those same times. The third generation is William treating my three young boys at BCC so wonderfully. It is said if you can smile, laugh and cry in the same day then it is a good day. I ‘ d like to remember Mac and family that way.

"I'd like to tell you a little bit about who we are, what we do, and how we do it." Hold on to your seats, because with that lead in Mack just shot out of the starting gate. The sales presentation that followed was always masterful.
Oliver was the BEST person I have ever worked for and I will forever be grateful for the skills I learned working for him and getting to observe and enjoy this exceptional fellow.

First my Condolences to the family.
I first met Mack at the old Tommy’s when I moved here from Savannah Ga 24 years ago. He didn’t hesitate to to give me encouragement and lots a knowledge in career advisement. Always very humble and optimistic. He will be greatly missed. Mack... what an amazing Legacy he leaves behind. Peace to his family and friends.

Here was a man who when i moved to Fairfield County, embraced me with open arms. His whole family has. While he was the life of the party, he knew when someone needed a “nudge”. For the years that i had to share with him through Highland and the restaurants, I feel ridiculously lucky to have known such a lovely man and his family. RIP.
