Peter MacLellan

MACLELLAN Peter Leo MacLellan Jr. "Mac" died in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 60 on February 29th, 2012. Peter died of complications from vasculitis after years of fighting the disease. Despite a difficult few years, Peter was always upbeat and positive. Peter was born in Boston, MA on January 13, 1952 to Ann Marie MacLellan and Peter Leo MacLellan. Peter grew up in Newton, MA where he attended Mount Alvernia Academy for grade school. He completed 7th-9th grade at St. Sebastian's School where he was considered a star athlete. His good grades and tremendous athletic ability landed him at Georgetown Prep in Maryland for 10th-12th grade. Peter was then a three letter varsity athlete at Rutgers University (soccer, hockey, tennis). Peter spent the majority of his adult life teaching tennis at various clubs including the Easton Racquet Club, Milford Tennis Club and Black Rock Yacht Club. He had the opportunity to teach with his brother Bobby and all 3 of his kids (Jessica, Maureen, Peter III) during many summers. Peter enjoyed being around people and he loved his job. Peter was an avid and talented golfer. One of his last great experiences was when his friends took him to the Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA. Peter also loved the beach and in particular Hilton Head Island. Yearly drives to Hilton Head with his family led to many incredible memories. Peter is survived by his children Jessica Smith, Maureen Sweeney, and Peter MacLellan III. He was incredibly proud to be grandfather to Mia and Henry Smith, Mackenzie Sweeney, and Peter MacLellan IV. Peter was 1 of 6 children to Peter and Ann Marie MacLellan. He is survived by Kathy Gregg, Patrick MacLellan, Mimi Renahan, Bobby MacLellan, and Nancy Salisbury. Family was everything to Peter. A memorial celebration of Peter's life will take place at the Easton Racquet Club in Easton, CT on April 28, 2012 at 2 o'clock.
