Richard C. Carlson, Sr.
September 18, 2021
Richard C. Carlson, Sr., 89 of Prospect, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Born in Bridgeport on June 11, 1932. He was the husband of the late Eva "Cookie" (Broadbent) Carlson. He was the son of the late Gustav and Agnes (Denzel) Carlson.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After many years of traveling the world for Sikorsky Aircraft, he retired from the Presidential Hangar in 1993. He also went on and retired from Milford Hospital as a courier in 1998.
Richard was an avid fisherman and a lifetime member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. He was member of the American Legion Post 76, Twilight Mixed Bowling League and volunteered at the Special Olympics in CT for many years. He enjoyed camping with friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Anthony) DiNuzzo, Sherriann (Walter) Hagedorn, Richard (Kimberly) Carlson Jr., Carl (Agnes) Carlson and Heather (Alexis) Morales. Also, his step-children Heide (Richard) Ruff and William (Shanette) Hagedorn. His grandchildren, Christine (Daniel) Jachimski,, Casey (Brandon) Dorry, Derek Hagedorn, Brittany Hagedorn, Michael Carlson, Amanda (Carlos) DaCruz, Savanna and Jake Carlson and Marcus Ruff as well as his great-grandchildren, Connor, Alexander, Peyton, Liam, Damien, Adrianne, Gianna and Michael. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Bertil and Herbert, his sisters, Mildred and Gail, his daughter Tammy-Ann, a grandaughter Madyson, stepson Carl (Lisa) Hagedorn and the mother of his children Easter-Mae (Penny) Carlson.
Services will be private.
