Robert Carr Obituary

Robert (Bob) Carr
December 28, 2022
Robert (Bob) Carr, 94, passed away at home on December 28 with his wife of 69 years, Agnes (Maloney) at his side. Bob was born in the Bronx, NY on June 7, 1928 to William Carr and Gertrude (Eden), and at an early age, the family moved back to England, to the town of Runcorn in Cheshire, just south of Liverpool. He served in the US Army at the end of WWII as a Corporal in the Chemical Corp stationed as part of the US presence in Germany, moved back to the States and went on to graduate from the University of Bridgeport. Upon graduating, Bob worked for many years at Dictaphone, and then at Avco/Textron, as plant engineer and manager. He and his wife lived in Southport, CT for over 60 years.
Bob was passionate about anything to do with space, science fiction and planes. His kids and their cousins and friends all have fond memories of launching model rockets that Bob built himself. He was a voracious reader, excelled at The New York Times crossword puzzles and loved to watch Jeopardy! Bob was also an avid Mets fan (LGM)! Most of all, Bob loved to spend time with his family and to provide for them, having grown up in wartime Europe. Taking family road trips and having a nice meal together were very special times.
Bob is survived by his wife Agnes, two daughters and their spouses, Susan and Arthur Hudgins and Sheila and Jim Popp, and seven grandchildren, Jake, Jordan, Riley, Anna, Vivian, Nicholas and Alicia.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.

Bob and I ran the Southern Connecticut chapter #54 of Plant Engineer's, there were 30 of us throughout the 1980s and met once a month at the old Testo's on Madison Ave. Our greatest accomplishment together was putting together two bus loads {Peter Pan} of fellow engineer's to tour behind the scenes of the World Trade Center towers and arranged dinner for 60 afterwards. Bob took care of the money I took care of the arrangements. We were a great team.
Bob and I shared many a laugh together, he was one of a kind.
Please know you have my deepest condolences for your loss.

Bob and I made a great team & friends because we respected each other-

My dearest Uncle Bob. You will be forever in my heart. You led an exemplary life. I remember years ago spending nights at your house with Auntie and you always treated us to a $.10 bag of penny candy at Jimmy´s. I do recall being at one of your rocket launches and many of backyard cookouts. I share your love of Jeopardy and NY times crosswords. Thanks for being so excited to talk with me about our river trip to Germany last year. It was so great to hear how much joy it brought you that I could share our trip memories. Most of all thank you for loving my Auntie and cousins Susan and Sheila. Say hello to my Godmother Agnes, I remember her fondly. Love you always - Laura

A wonderful friend from childhood of my late father James Dingsdale. I met Bob when I was a small boy and have never lost that warm caring impression that he left with me. Privilege to have known him and also to know his family. Rest in peace Bob but live on in the loving memory of those whose lives you so graciously touched. Chris Dingsdale.
