Robert Reed Obituary
Robert J. Reed, age 79, beloved husband of the late Marion "Mickey" Reed (Fedak) died peacefully on April 22, 2015 at his daughter's home in Newtown. Bob was born in Bridgeport on July 2, 1935 and attended Harding High School and UCONN before joining the US Army and serving as an MP. He was a long time Stratford resident, who with Mickey raised their family (Colleen and Kevin) in the Lordship section. He started and ended his career at Sikorsky Aircraft as a mechanical engineer and along the way earned an engineering degree from UB. Bob's priorities were clear. First was his family; including his wife, children and grandchildren. Second was serving the community. He was a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Church in Lordship, where he served as usher and taught CCD class. He devoted his time to coaching the Stratford youth for over 3 decades; primarily basketball for Sterling House and Our Lady of Peace Church, and later soccer. "Coach Bob" in some cases coached 2 generations within families. He also worked as a mentor for those in need. He "worked to live" rather than "lived to work". Getting that part right allowed him to focus on his top 2 priorities; what really mattered to him. He was truly a man for others, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the many lives he has touched. Survivors include his children Colleen Bryant and her husband Andy of Newtown and Kevin Reed and his wife Cheryl of Milford and his grandchildren Molly and Reed Bryant and Hailey and Michael Reed. Calling hours will take place on Friday, April, 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM
In the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25th at 10 AM in Our Lady of Peace Church, 230 Park Blvd, Lordship (Meet Directly at Church). Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Those desiring may make donations in memory of Bob to Our Lady of Peace Church or to Sterling House 2283 Main St Stratford, CT 06615. I remember when I was a little girl, my Uncle Al died (50 years ago). It was around Halloween and Bob and Mickey took both me and my sister trick or treating. They were so kind. That memory has stayed with me all these years. Very Special People, now they are together again. God Bless them both.

One thing I always admired about Bob when he worked coaching and teaching soccer and basketball at Sterling House was that the kids always came first.

As a boy I have great memories of both Bob & Mickey at family gatherings. They were wonderful people and will surely be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Lou and I send our thoughts and prayers to Bob's family. Bob was part of our Dresser family for many years. We have many great memories of those days. His smile was radiant with a twinkle in his eye. A finer man cannot be found. Rest in peace our friend.
