Tess Szamatulski Obituary

Tess Szamatulski
September 17, 1954 - September 25, 2023
Tess Szamatulski, 69, died on September 25, 2023 after a full and too-short life. Tess was born in Bridgeport, CT the daughter of Arthur and Bessie Demcsak.
She was the adored wife of Mark Szamatulski and together they raised three children: Noella, Paulette and Rob.
Tess was a beautiful woman inside and out with a lively, generous and fun-loving personality. She loved to travel and experience new places and did a good deed every day to make someone's life better.
She was a great cook, and a gracious hostess. A Sunday dinner with Tess was on a grand scale, with great soups and appetizers followed by delicious main courses that had many sides and ended with dessert. These dinners were 4-hour events that often included talking, games, sitting in the backyard, many courses and lots of love.
One of her special talents was creating a family full of love and support that is generations deep. Tess had a special talent for making each family member feel special and appreciated. And today, thanks to her legacy, her family stands strong together.
She never lost her wonder for life and was always excited by the first robin in the Spring, the first lilies or hostas that sprang up from the ground, a sunrise, a sunset or a great thunderstorm. She had a green thumb and nurtured many flowers and vegetables and created a beautiful flower garden in her back yard.
Tess ran several businesses over the years: Trumbull Workout Center, Catered By Tess, Maltose Express, Maltose Press and Veracious Brewing Company. She also wrote two books with her husband: Clone Brews and Beer Captured. For those who worked with her professionally she never had customers, she had friends.
She was also an animal lover who volunteered with her therapy dog Grady and had many great dogs over the years including: Maui, Maize, Grady, Lucy, Ralph and George. She loved taking the dogs to training and then training them at home.
Tess is survived by and remembered with deep love by her husband Mark Szamatulski, children Noella Duh and her husband Paul, Paulette Schmidt and her husband Eric and Robert Blain and his wife Alice; three grandchildren, Aquinnah Schmidt, Paul Duh and Amelia Schmidt; her brother Michael Demcsak and his wife Sharon; mother-in-law Lorraine Szamatulski, sisters-in-law Mary Pulido and husband Jorge and Laura Szamatulski; brother-in-law David Szamatulski and wife Deanna and their children; and by Aunt Barbara Yasinski, Aunt Patricia Damiani, Uncle Ray Powell and Aunt Janet Powell. She is also survived by her bonus children, Heather Angelico, Amy Meador, Kevin Buonagurio and Brad Weissman.
Tess, we love you bunches and bunches honey, it will never stop. Ti amo!
Services will be private.

Mark and Family, it comes as a great shock on your tragic loss. Tess was a great lady and I always enjoyed sharing a bottle of the latest vintage with her, her favorite was a white bordeaux. May her memory be eternal. George and Phyllis Chaber

Tess was the nicest kindest person we were fortunate to get close to. How lucky we were to spend time with her enjoying her humor, gourmet meals, singing and control over her sweet dogs. Tess had a special way with people that made them feel welcome and loved. We will deeply miss her. Our thoughts are with you on this tremendous loss.

Mark, Noella, Paulette and Rob...Tess was an inspiration from the first time we met her. Always positive, kind and compassionate. She even figured a way to calm Eric and yes, he listened!
We meet many people on life's path but few leave truly sincere and warming memories. Thank you for that Tess and God speed.

Tess was an amazing and adored wife to my brother, Mark, loving mother to Paulette, Noella, and Rob, caring grandmother to Aquinnah, Paul and Amelia, and the best sister-in-law that we could ever hope for! Her love and laughter will be missed, but she will live on in our hearts.

I met Tess after winning a copy of her book Beer Captured at a brewing contest. She graciously signed it for me, and Clone Brews as well. Such a friendly and kind soul, as well as one of the most talented Brewsters I ever had the honor to know.

Feast well, Tess. I know that the Heaven where you are not only DOES have beer and mead, it has the best ever made.

May we be worthy to see you again. Strength and comfort to Mark and all her family and friends.

I met Tess and Mark 25 years ago, we bought our grapes for making wine from them, it developed into a friendship over the years and always enjoyed meeting up with them. I remember one year her daughter was helping out and I referred to her as Tess´s sister, boy did she get a kick out of that. My thoughts and memories of Tess will always be grand, she treated my wife and I always very warmly. We will miss her smile and warmth, RIP Tess we love you!

I was so proud to be Tessie´s cousin. She accomplished so much and it is very sad she is gone way too soon. Tessie was a caring person, a fantastic cook and an amazing self-starter. Although we didn´t see each other often since we grew up, it is difficult to think she is gone. I was thinking of Tessie lately and regret that I didn´t get to speak with her as I intended. Tessie was loved & will be missed very much by many.

I know Tess from the brewery. She was an amazing person. I recall having a gathering with our friends at the brewery and my son was just deployed to and I was very sad. She made my night by talking to me about what an important job he was doing for us and keeping us safe. I will never forget her for that!!
