Daria - Ginny and I were so saddened to learn of this yesterday. It brought me back to the time Tom and I shared as new Lieutenants at Fort Hood, each renting from the same landlord in 1968. Tom was one of a kind, and will not be forgotten. Know that we keep you and him in our prayers this weekend. If you ever want some away time in a warm place, please reach out to us down here in FL.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Cummings family and Tom's friends. After reading these messages I feel I knew Tom more than from just playing tennis with him a few times a month for almost twenty years. He really loved playing and the comaraderie that came with it. We all saw his true nature of compassion and gentle nature ... Tom was always positive and had a engaging warm spirit. Rest in peace our friend.

Elaine and I pray the Lord will take good care of our brother and uncle to our children. Tom was such a loving person. It is hard to imagine what our lives will be like without his big smile, hearty laugh, and caring manner. To say we will miss him terribly seems a colossal understatement. We are forever grateful he was part of our lives. The attached photo shows his character at the time of his First Communion. His loving heart penetrates the camera lens. Jesus on earth as in Heaven was always helping, comforting, healing those if their hearts (their central character and love of their neighbor) were in the right place. Certainly, Tom's loving nature did not go unnoticed by the Lord throughout his life just as it did that day after receiving the Holy Eucharist for the first time.

God's blessings to you Tom and your family,
Ted and Elaine

A fruitful life is not a blaze
Of sudden glory won
But just an adding up of days
In which God's will is done
God sends His children here with special tasks to do
And calls them home, one by one, when their work is through.

Tom's work here is through and it is time to return to the comfort and serenity of his savior's warm embrace for all of eternity.

Our family was blessed to know Tom as a devoted husband, a caring and supportive father, and a wonderful neighbor who would do anything for you -- we were truly blessed to have him with us and to be considered his friend. Our personal grief and sorry knows no bounds as we share this painful journey with Tom's family and his many friends.

May his soul rest in peace and may his family and friends overcome their grief at this time of his passing.

We were very shocked to get word of Tom's passing, and Jimmy has many great memories of his times skiing with Tom and Daria as a teen as well as other family moments. While its been a while since we had seen the family, we truly feel for your loss, and hope to strengthen future sharing of special times in the future with the rest of you. He had a huge heart and was always smiling, I cant help but believe he would want us to know he watches over us still as he sits and joins his own parents in the everafter.

Our hearts are filled with cherished memories of the wonderful times we spent together with my dear Uncle (and Godfather) Tom. While we are devastated with his passing, we will celebrate his well-lived life: selfless service to the nation, loyal to his company, dutiful in his faith and boundless love for his family. Uncle Tom, you've clearly played life's course so well that God is letting you take "honors" on life's next tee shot.

March 3, 2015

Dear Daria: A part of our life has left us. We loved Tom very much and will miss him dearly. So many memories to reflect upon over 50 + years. Our prayers are with you. We will always be there for you, Daria & Michael.
