Dear Kathy,
It's been a long time, but I remember very fondly sitting and talking on your front porch on summer evenings and days at Oceanview. I was shocked to learn of Walt's death. I wish you and your children the strength to handle the days ahead and hope that your many happy memories together will be a source of inspiration. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Uncle Walt,
I'll think of you when catching frogs, walking in the woods, and most importantly when I achieve something I know would make you proud. Your friendship meant so very much to me - love, Tom

My deepest condolences to Bill and the extended Durand family. I was fortunate enough to know Bill, Walt and Steve and their parents when I was young. They were a wonderful family to know in the
St.Cecilia/SCHS days. May God bless you and help you at this difficult time.

Walter Durand was my science teacher at SCHS in the late 80s. I always looked forward to going to his class because he was very knowledgeable, a great teacher, and he made learning fun. I am now in education, and the example he set in the classroom helped contribute to my identity as an educator. I am very sorry for your loss.

The Walter I knew as a colleague at Darien HS always lived and taught with the intensity of 4th of July fireworks ... the best time to catch him was on a Monday when he would regale us with weekend stories of family adventures and misadventures ... for you were always first and foremost on his mind and he shared that love with all of us ... he loved you so!

Walter will be remembered in the sound of his children's laughter, the roar of a motorcycle on a summer day, and always when out on an adventure - he made everything in life an adventure. We will always love him, and when looking for him we just need to look in our hearts. Love to Kathy and the kids. Robin, Bill, Thomas and Kerry
