CARLISLE - Cletus L Wise, Sr., 86, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2023. Cletus was born on September 27, 1937, to the late Oren C. and Stella M. Wise. He was the widower of H. Charmaine (Reeder) Wise to whom he was married 60 years.

He graduated in 1955 from Boiling Springs High School. He was in the Navy from 1957 till 1959 and then the reserves for several more years. He retired from C.H. Masland & Sons after more than 40 years. A lifelong member of Barnitz Church, he was a teacher, sang in the choir, and held a variety of positions in the church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and games with the grandchildren, camping, golf, monthly lunches with his classmates, SWAP lunches at church and raising fish and growing water lilies.

He is survived by his daughter, Jodie K. Fuller (Gregory) of Ickesburg; two sons, Scott A Wise (Colleen) of Carlisle, and Steven L. Wise (Shelley) of Shippensburg. He was preceded in death by his son Cletus L. Wise, Jr.; nine grandchildren: Brandon Fuller, Dawn Mitten, Calli, Kyle, Derek, Tucker, Leo, Emily and Owen Wise; four great-grandchildren: Rylee and Gavin Fuller, Kaylin and Avarie Mitten; two sisters, Jackie Kennedy and Nancy Thompson; one brother, Robert Wise. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Wise.

Funeral service will be held at Barnitz Church, 23 Church Lane, Carlisle, PA 17015 on Wednesday, December 27, at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Mathew Plant officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till the start of the service. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his church, Barnitz Church, 23 Church Lane, Carlisle, PA 17015.
