Daniel Eckenrode Obituary

D. Richard Eckenrode, age 89, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Thursday Nov 15, 2018.

He was born in Carlisle to the late Daniel and Evelyn (Bistline) Eckenrode and spent his entire life in the Carlisle area. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Sandra (Snyder) Eckenrode.

Dick was proud of serving our country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army-but seldom spoke of his time overseas. He worked for over 25 years at Dickinson College, retiring in the early 90's. He is well remembered as "Officer Eck" by many whom he helped while working there. Dick was an accomplished woodworker and cabinet maker, and he and Sandy were antique dealers in Carlisle for many years.

He is survived by his sons Scott (wife Susan) of Chandler, AZ and Todd (wife Linda) of Carlisle; grandchildren Justin (wife Jennifer) Eckenrode of Carlisle, Megan (partner Ian) Eckenrode of Carlisle, Tara (partner Keith) Eckenrode of Calpine, CA, Stephen (wife Christine) Eckenrode of Arlington, MA, Jennifer (husband Matt) Slavick of West Chester, PA, Ryan (wife Beth) Adams of Duncannon, PA and Nicole (partner Steven) Adams of Carlisle.

Also surviving are his beloved great-grandchildren Annalie, Evelyn, Gillian, Tristan, Austin, Leelah, and Steven.

Dick is also survived by his sister Peggy Woodward (Carlisle), his aunt Veda Hockenberry (Carlisle), and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
