John Davids Obituary

John T. Davids, 80, of Carlisle died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Wednesday, April 24, 1929, in Llanerch and was a son of the late Judson N. and Edith A. (Brownmiller) Davids.

John retired in 1988 from the former Carlisle Hospital, where he worked in the maintenance department.

He was a longtime member of First United Church of Christ in Carlisle, a member of AARP and the AMORA Club. He also enjoyed traveling.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy M. Davids, who died on Sept. 5, 1988; a brother, Gerald R. Davids; and a sister, Joyce D. Richardson.

John is survived by his wife, Thelma "June" (Kitzmiller) Davids; a sister, Jean D. Strahan of Silver Spring, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Lynn R. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
