Born Nov. 3, 1951, in Carlisle, he was a son of Thomas E. and Julia (Palmer) Stackfield of Carlisle.
Mr. Stackfield was a 1971 graduate of Carlisle High School, where he played football, basketball and track and field. In 1970, he was the Pennsylvania state champion in the 110-meter high hurdles. He attended Virginia Union in Richmond, Va., for two years, where he played football. He also played semi-pro football for the Harrisburg Cowboys, the Carol County Chargers in Frederick, Md., and the Chambersburg Cardinals.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, Harrisburg, and was active in community sporting events in the Carlisle and Harrisburg areas, including the flag football leagues.
Mr. Stackfield is survived by his parents; his wife, Michelle (Davenport) Stackfield; a son, Ammar Stackfield of Harrisburg; a daughter, Brittini Stackfield of Harrisburg; two stepsons, Michah Davenport of Harrisburg and Rashad Davenport of Philadelphia; six brothers, Gary Stackfield, Milton Stackfield and Richard Stackfield, all of Carlisle, Vincent Stackfield of Shippensburg, Anthony Stackfield of Riverdale, Ga., and Marshall Stackfield of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Porter and Patricia Thompson, both of Carlisle, and Angela Stackfield-White of Riverdale, Ga.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony (Shannon) Banks, who died May 25, 1998.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. D.R. Gilmore officiating. Burial will be private.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home.
