During my four years in Dekalb teaching and coaching at Clinton Rosette Middle School, I had the wonderful good fortune to know Jim. He taught me things about teaching, coaching, and life that guided me through the years even now in 2025. I´ll never forget him.

I always include Mr. D in my prayers but was never sure how he was doing. I found out today and it is a sad one, that I never got to say Good-bye. He was a a terrific man and always treated me with respect (whether I deserved it or not). Gerri & he always welcomed me with open arms, and I will never forget their kindness. They raised a wonderful Family and they are continuing to follow the example they were taught. He taught me that History is something that is important to our lives and I am learning, to this day. His humor and graciousness will always be Cherished.

It is difficult to state my relationship with Jim, as I have always called him my "Father, Brother, Friend". For 23 years myself and others in our neighborhood have gathered at Jim and Donna's home for some wine, wisdom, and a shitload of laughter. There is nobody like him, and there never will be. Jim has helped everyone I know at some point, my family, friends et.al. There was no judgement in this mans soul, he absolutely loved life, and it came through every time we and others were with him. I started a book of "Jimism's" many years ago, and Donna and the boys helped keep it going when I was not around. I hold those quips, mispronounced words, and flat out comedy statements so dearly close in my heart, just like I hold you my sweet friend. I dearly miss you Jimbo, and I thank you for the love and friendship you have shown me and Cathy for so very long. You are my hero buddy, I miss kissing the top of your head when I left your house, I miss your pirate voice, I miss your laughter, and I so miss you my dear sweet friend, I love you Jimbo, Peace to you my Brother.

Jim was my Rock! Went through my divorce with me and we became friends. Like a dad giving advice to his daughter. I then went to work for Doherty,Davidson, and Lothson to pay off the remainder of my bill and became family to all that worked at the firm. A great man, a great mentor,a great friend. Will miss you Jim God speed my friend.

Did not know Jim well but learned and admired his “renaissance” life through his sister Sue Huizinga. I always thought he was quite a force in life. I am sure there is more than the usual big void in the lives of family and friends. My thoughts are with them all.

Me. Davidson was one of my favorite teachers at Kish, about 31 years ago. He was very interesting and I enjoyed his class. A few years later, I went to him for help with a ticket (I didn’t know any attorneys other than him). He took care of everything, wrote a letter to the judge and never wanted payment. He said knowing I got an A in his class was all he needed to know. I never forgot his kindness.

While most of us will " withhold a comment Or question", Jim was always one to tell you what was on his mind or ask what was on your mind. I appreciated that in him and tried To adopt a more subtle version for myself. He loved life, teaching, coaching, and people. He left a lasting impact on all that he met. All the best to your family! Thank you, Jim and RIP.

Sincere condolences to Jim's daughters. Jim and your mom were close friends of my wife and I while attending NIU and living in the married housing units in the late 1950s. We remained close until moving to California in 1961. We always made a point of connecting with Jim whenever visiting DeKalb. He was a great guy and will be sincerely missed.

I was the Realtor and Jim the attorney for many real estate transactions and always enjoyed our times at the closing table--that smile and his humor were always welcome additions to any closing! He always made you feel important to the project you were working on. He was a wonderful and very fun and professional attorney! Thanks for making those closings we had go smoother because you were their attorney!

Saddened to hear of Jim's passing. He was a dynamic educator and role model who greatly influenced my life. I eventually became a teacher and school administrator. What a wonderful legacy he leaves behind.
