Ruby Seedorf, age 92, of Kankakee changed her address on February 27, 2025, as she left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
She was born June 16, 1932 in Buckley, the daughter of Vernon & Maud Workman Foster.
Ruby married Kenneth Seedorf on January 12, 1951 in Kankakee. He preceded her in death in 1991. In 1992, she married Clarence Moranz. He also preceded her in death in 2002
Ruby was a 4-H leader. She was a volunteer at Asbury Thrift Store and was also a den mother for the cub scouts. Ruby was also a volunteer for the Children's Evangelism Fellowship and Children's Ministry of Illinois. Ruby was a very active lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Kankakee, where she will be lovingly remembered as the Bible School Cookie lady. She was a Sunday school teacher. She also helped in the Awana Club. She was a member of the garden club. Ruby enjoyed traveling. She loved helping her husband on the family farm.
Surviving are her children, Gregory & Jhecy Seedorf of Missouri, Jerry Seedorf of Kankakee, Jim & Margaret Seedorf of Missouri, Sally & Jeff Peters of Michigan, and Linda & Kevin Kennell of Clifton; one nephew, whom she raised as son, Robert "Sam" Seedorf; siblings, Virgil Foster of St. Anne, Gene Foster of Florida, Donald & Leola Foster of Nevada, and Mary Helen Carlson of St. Anne; sister-in-law, Mary Foster of Colorado; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Russell Foster and Orville Foster; sisters-in-law, Doris Foster, LaFerne Foster, and Bonnie Foster; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Carlson.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 8, 2025, also at the funeral home. Pastor Phillip Gardner will officiate the ceremony.
Interment will follow at Mound Grove Gardens in Kankakee.
