I was so saddened to hear of Dennis' death. I grew up in Lincolnton too - attended the same church as Dennis and graduated in his class. My own "prestige" grew at Meredith College when I'd tell someone I knew THE Dennis Byrd! My regret is that I didn't see Dennis after we graduated from high school. As is so true of many, that life milestone separates us in distance, but not in memory of those such as Dennis. My condolences to all his family and friends.
