VERSAILLES — Howard Rehmert Jr., age 84, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 11, 2021, at 11:43 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Howard Rehmert Sr. and Josephine (Weaver) Rehmert.
Howard was a graduate of Greenville class of 1955. He served in the Army National Guard and worked at American Aggregates and Hardy's. In 1966, he followed his dream and started his own business (Rehmert Cycle Sales & Service, Inc.) with his wife Janet, selling and repairing Kawasaki motorcycles. Howard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, Elks, Moose, and Eagles, a lifetime member of the Treaty City Motorcycle Club and American Motorcyclist Association. He was also a Wayne Township Trustee for 16 years and served on the Darke County Planning Board and a former president of the Lion's Club. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He very much enjoyed the motorcycle races, fishing, boating, camping, and doing things with his children, grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister Janice Rehmert, his mother and father in-law, Elmer & Emma (Hauschild) Pitsenbarger; Brother-in-laws; Craig Kister, Verner Martin, Merle Selander, Floyd Pitsenbarger, Jerome Oliver. Sister-in-laws; Evelyn (Pitsenbarger) Selander, Dorthabel (Pitsenbarger) Fox, Bernice (Garland) Rehmert, Linda (Trostle) Rehmert.
Howard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet (Pitsenbarger) Rehmert, whom he married Mar. 29, 1958. His daughters and son-in-laws, Jill and Jamie White, of Bradford, Teresa and Randy Comer, of Versailles. Grandchildren; Janelle (White) Couch, of Kennesaw, Ga., Jayson and Tracy (Payne) White, of Bradford, Kaitlynn (Comer) and Shane Osberg, of Tipp City. Three amazing great-grandsons; Nolan Couch, Owen Osberg and Jagger White that he dearly adored. Brothers and sisters; Paul Rehmert, Richard and Carledia Rehmert, Rosie (Rehmert) and Jim VanDeGrift, Glenn Rehmert, Ione (Rehmert) and Verlin Thompson, Jane (Rehmert) Kister. Sister-in-laws; Phyllis (Pitsenbarger) Oliver, Janet Pitsenbarger. And many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles. Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles. Memorial contributions may be made to the Treaty City Motorcycle Club. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Howard's death and your loss. This felt like a gut punch for me.
Janet, you should be very proud of what Howard and you accomplished with the shop and its tremendous success. I'm sure Howard will be sorely missed by many given all of his and your activities.
