Esther Stormer Obituary

Esther Viola Stormer
Esther Viola Stormer
1934-2013
Esther passed away peacefully after a long illness on Dec 18th, leaving behind her family of 3 children, Teresa Wood, Timothy Wood, Frank Wood, wife Pat; grandson, James, granddaughters Shawna, Melissa Wood, Lorena Swonger; son in law Mario Rubalcava; 3 great grandchildren, Sabriana, Daniel, and Sofia Rubalcava; step-son Rex Stormer, wife Christine, sister Lorena Willey and brother Frank Stormer.

She was born in Lansing MI, moving to California when she was 7. A graduate of Banning High School in 1952; she married Fred Wood (deceased) in 1953 and Floyd Stormer(deceased) in 1975. Floyd retired from the Coast Guard and they spent many years traveling the country and wintering at Camp Lemora, FL, making many friends from Canada and all over the U.S.

Esther's love for journalism was evident in her many published writings in magazine and newspaper publications. She was active in local politics; helping to elect local congressmen, and involved in the incorporation of the City of Carson. For her efforts she received many letters of recognition from Presidents, Congressmen and Mayors.

Her love and concern for her fellow man continued with her involvement in the Harbor Community Clinic in San Pedro and the LAPD Harbor Division. She touched many people in her life, especially children, who she took into her heart and helped to grow into responsible adults. They called her Grandma, viewing her as family. There are too many to name here, but we want to thank you for your love for Esther.

We know Esther is in a better place and at peace, please join us for her memorial at 1:00 p.m. January 25, 2014 at Angels Gate Cultural Center Building H, San Pedro, CA 90731. The family requests any donations be made to Harbor Community Clinic (593 W. 6th San Pedro, CA 90731; contact Tamara: [email protected]) in memory of Esther Stormer.

Her ashes will be interred with her late husband Floyd at the military cemetery in Salisbury, NC.

I was unable to attend the memorial service for Ester on Saturday. However I think of her often and the many good times we had at Harbor Station. Esther was a volunteer at the Police Station and will be remembered for her generous gift of time and a sense of humor that was worth more than gold! Good bye my friend and I will see you one day and we will laugh as we did many times !

Dear Teresa and family-your mom's life force was mighty powerful and her passing will surely leave a sad void. Knowing that she lives on in heaven's domaine I'm sure will bring you much peace. Love has no boundaries and she will do much to guide you from her new vantage point. God bless you all! Dee
