Michael Benfield Obituary

Michael Davis Benfield CHARLOTTE - Michael Davis Benfield was born in Mooresville, North Carolina on November 29, 1946. He was the son of Lee Davis Benfield and Mabel Elizabeth Karriker. Michael served the community as a Bail Bondsman for over 30 years in the greater Charlotte area and later in life ministered at the local jail. Michael is survived by his daughter Karen Benfield of Newberry, South Carolina and his son, Rion Benfield of Mint Hill, North Carolina and grandchildren, Cody Benfield and Gregory Canipe, Joseph Benfield, Kathryn De Vito and Kennedey Benfield, Lindsey Carpenter and Katelyn Shields. Services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 2 PM, located at the Sharon Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 920 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.

It was an honor to have known "Mike the security guy" while I was a resident at Shamrock Garden Apartments. He showed exquisite diplomatic skills when handling difficult situations between residents when they flared up. You may rest assured that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort and is enjoying a well-deserved eternal life with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Dear Karen, Rion and families, I was so very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I last saw him at Robert's (Bobby to me) funeral. Your grandparents, my aunt Mabel & uncle L.D. were very special to me. I have many fond memories playing at their home with their boys & at the Karriker reunion's at Happy's Lake. Your grandmother Mabel and my dad Marvin Karriker were sister and brother. I am sorry that I could not be with you at Michael's memorial service, but my only sister, Reba passed away on Saturday. She was my only sister & 80 years old. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I live in Hickory & would love to keep in contact. Love and prayers, Sylvia Karriker Lail
