James "Jim" Hilton Jackson, 73, of Kossuth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Born on June 14, 1951, in Ripley, he was the beloved son of the late Walter Clifford Jackson and Lula Belle Hilton Jackson. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be handled by Magnolia Funeral Home.
Jim was a proud graduate of Walnut High School, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University, and the Auburn University of Veterinary Medicine. Known affectionately as "Doc" to his many friends and clients, he dedicated his life to caring for animals as a veterinarian at Jackson Animal Clinic.
Beyond his career, Jim had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cultivating his cherished watermelons, pumpkins, and food plots. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter, often sharing adventures with his friends on trips out west. Jim was not only a skilled outdoorsman but also a compassionate friend, devoted father, and true animal lover. His warmth and humor will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he so greatly impacted.
Jim is survived by his brother, Dr. Bill Jackson, and wife Linda Gene; his loving partner of 12 years, Mai Fair; his sons, Matt Jackson (Trish), James Jackson II (Amy), and William Jackson; and his nieces, Candace Marlar (Josh), Lindsey Jackson (Robert), and Morgan Williams (Kevin). He is also survived by those he lovingly considered his own children: Josh, Kyle, and Anna Kayte Webb, as well as Kellen and Lizzy Fair. His cherished grandchildren include Braydon and Brody Muhly, and Brewer Jackson. He also leaves behind great nieces and nephews, Eleanor and John Franceis Williams, and Jackson and Hilton Marlar, along with an extended family and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Jim was not only a good veterinarian he was a good friend as well. He took care of numerous dogs for me and always gave them the best care possible. Every time I saw him we would cut up and talk about something concerning me and Ronnie Pittman. The last time I left Maggie there I told him she might not eat the food he had because I failed to bring mine for her. I told him that if she wouldn't eat his food that she loved chicken livers and he laughed and said well I'll get her some chicken livers to make sure that she eats. R.I.P. DOC..... YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED.....
