Charles "Chuck" Harry Rosendale, 85, of Connellsville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Excela Health Frick Hospital E.R. after a long and courageous battle with MDS Leukemia. He was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Connellsville. His parents were the late Charles and Mary Jane Richter Rosendale, of Connellsville. Chuck worked as a carpenter with Union No. 2274 of Pittsburgh. He worked for many years for the Sofis Company Inc. of Clinton. He served in the 5th Army Air Force and was stationed at Nagasaki Air Base in Japan. He was a life member of the VFW Post 21 of Connellsville. He was an active member for 40 years with the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department and later a life member. His hobbies included gardening, building his home and some woodworking. He read his bible every day and read through it at least once a year. He also enjoyed walking his Yorkie, "Mocha". He formerly was a member of the East Connellsville United Methodist Church and now a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Nesta, were married for 64 years this past August. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ronald Charles Rosendale in 1953; a brother, Howard Rosendale; and sisters, Dorothy Harshman, Charlotte Miller and Alice Hyatt. He will be sadly missed and loved forever by his devoted family, his wife, Nesta Ruth Showman Rosendale; his children, Barbara Rosendale, of New Stanton, and Keith Rosendale, of Connellsville; his grandchildren, Tricia Haas, of New Stanton, and Craig Mulroy, of Long Beach, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Kya Haas, of New Stanton, (now attending University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg). He is also survived by a sister, Betty Lou Napper, of Warren, Mich.; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews also survive. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. There will be no viewing or visitation Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.
