Jerry served the Mount Pleasant Borough as its elected mayor for 36 years, having just won another four-year term that would have made 40. He also served on Borough Council for six years. He was active in youth football and baseball for many years and of particular note in his many years of public service he was proud that he was absent for only four meetings. He was named Mount Pleasant's Citizen of the Year in 2006.
