James F. Whetsel Jr. of Wooddale (Bullskin Township), devoted father, grandfather, and retired school teacher, has gone to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, peacefully in his home at the age of 78. James was a thoughtful and caring man who loved the Lord and his family. He was born to James F. Whetsel Sr. and Violet Laken Whetsel on Nov. 17, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School and California Teachers' College. He was a loved and respected teacher at Connellsville High School who taught industrial arts among other things for 36 years. He married the love of his life, Louise Allison, on July 4, 1968, and had two children, Scott James and Tina Alyson. Jim loved learning, teaching, and mentoring. His hobbies included woodworking, building sets for musicals at Connellsville High School, going to steam shows, building/ designing homes, historical restorations, studying history, and helping anyone who asked. He is survived by his two children, Scott James Whetsel (Mandy Dawson) and Tina Alyson Whetsel Adams (Kevin Adams), and his six grandchildren, Abigail Whetsel and Madison, Michael, John, Joy, and Nicholas Adams. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Allen Whetsel (Carol Strelec) and his nieces, Linda Whetsel Conner (Brian Conner) and LeeAnn Whetsel Fillabrown (Tim Fillabrown). James was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Whetsel Sr. and Violet Laken Whetsel. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Kelly Allison Whetsel. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted by the knowledge that he is in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville, (724- 628-9033) on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, the time of memorial service with Pastor Rob Allison officiating.
