Barry Dewberry Obituary

Dec. 30, 1943 - April 19, 2011

Beloved husband and father, Barry Dewberry of Woodland, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Born on Dec. 30, 1943, Barry was 67 years old. A lifelong resident of Woodland, Barry was employed as a custodian by the Woodland School District for 38 years and for the Woodland Christian Church for 28 years.

Always on the go, Barry enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and playing the slots. He was also an avid collector of trinkets and had a fondness for Elvis Presley, the San Francisco 49ers and movies.

Barry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Dewberry; children, Toni Dewberry and husband Tim Talburt of Nicholasville, Ky., Sheila and Ryan Smith; Tammy Dewberry, and Marcy and Steven Minnier all of Woodland; grandchildren, Timothy Dewberry of Nicholasville, Shannon and Joshua Wall; Makayla, Kyle and Tyler Dewberry; Dakota and Brice Minnier, all of Woodland. He is also survived by his brother, Don Dewberry and wife Patricia of Woodland; and many numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Virgie Dewberry; and brothers, Jimmy, Norman and Jerry Dewberry.

A memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at the Woodland Christian Church, 509 College St. Evergreen Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

10 years later, I still remember Barry's smile, his quiet kindness and the way he worked hard to provide for his family. He was one of a kind. Gone, but never forgotten.

I too remeber Mr. Dewberry while attending Douglas he was such a nice man. Being a teacher now I have much more appreciation for Mr dewberry and his dedication to keeping the school clean. May you rest peacefully in heaven mr dewberry
