Gloria Cimorelli Obituary

Gloria Celeste Cimorelli was born in Queens, New York on January 10, 1935. She was the daughter of Leo and Elsie (Jannace) Mangiapanella. Gloria passed away peacefully at her home on November 10, 2023 at the age of 88. Gloria was a dedicated baseball fan for her entire life. Growing up near Ebbets Field, Gloria attended Brooklyn Dodgers' games when a Ladies' Day ticket cost just 10 cents. Her love for the game stayed with her; after the Dodgers left for Los Angeles, Gloria became a New York Mets fan. She enjoyed coaching her kids' baseball teams, cheering on the Mets when they were winning (and complaining about them when they were losing), and trash talking the Yankees. On a trip upstate to Glasco in 1953, Gloria caught the eye of Glasco resident Angelo Cimorelli. Angelo borrowed his father's green suit and guitar and serenaded Gloria at her family's summer bungalow. They married a year later and spent the next 53 years together until Angelo's passing in 2007. Gloria was employed by Ulster County where she made many friends. After retiring, she helped her daughter run Buck-in-Hand Palace in Saugerties. Later in life, she enjoyed greeting customers at her granddaughter's pizzeria, Brickyard Pizza. Gloria found joy in talking to everybody and anybody, visiting the casino, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society, and a Eucharistic minister. She loved gathering with her family, especially on Sundays over a bowl of pasta. She never missed a chance to get out on the dance floor, dress up as Santa, or play poker. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Andrew, and two sisters, Virginia and Lee. She is survived by two brothers, Peter (Maria) and Gasper (Ursula) Mangiapanella, a sister-in-law, Antoinette Mangiapanella, her four children; Joseph (Diane) Cimorelli, Michael Cimorelli, John (Rhonda) Cimorelli, and Celeste (Raymond) Lukaszewski, seven grandchildren; Tina, Joseph (Kali), Anthony (Meghan), Amanda (Aaron), Danielle, Nathaniel, and Natalie, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, November 24 from 3:00 to 7:00 at Buono Funeral Service in Saugerties. The funeral procession will form 9:15 AM on Saturday, November 25 at Buono Funeral Service, and then proceed to St. Joseph's Church in Glasco where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow immediately at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Please offer your condolences for Gloria and her family online at ww.BuonoFuneralService.com.
