Keenan just had it. That ability to make you smile. Whenever I think of Keenan I just smile. Whether it was he and I teasing Jock or him driving me around Pictou on a late Carny night the laughs were always endless. Keep laughing and keep smiling. Best to all.

To all of Keenan's family,

Our deepest sympathy to all of you. We have shared in both Keenan's and Jock's life with you and send deepest sympathy now for the tragedy of Keenan's death.

There has been a special place in my heart for Keenan since he lived with us during his first year of college. Together we struggled with some of his schoolwork, particularly his writing. By the end of the year, I felt he had real promise as a writer. I was very proud of him and marveled that he got himself into Fordham. I was pleased to attend his graduation. I did not see much of Keenan after that, but we were kept up with his various endeavors.

This is a tragedy that did not need to happen and should not have. Here was a personable, bright, young man with a true spark for life who could have been with us longer and who could have harnessed his many abilities to accomplish a rich and profitable life. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

We regret that life ended too soon for Keenan MacDonald. May his zest for life and many special talents live on through Declan.

Our heartfelt sympathy,

Olinda Simon for John and Olinda Simon

I graduated high school with Keenan, and never saw him again until one random airplane flight from NYC to Albany six years ago. It took being seated next to each other for us to realize who the other one was. We had a delightful time catching up, and I remember thinking "What a great guy he's turned out to be..." I was JUST thinking about that random meeting the other day, six years later, and his energy still brought a smile to my face. My condolences to his family and friends; please know what a wonderful light he brought to the people he touched, however briefly. What a great guy he turned out to be.
