Lillian Mary Margiotta Battillo

Lillian Mary Margiotta Battillo HYDE PARK- Lillian Mary Margiotta Battillo 87, a local resident since 1950, previously of Brooklyn, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck. Born June 27, 1925 in New York City, she was the daughter of August and Rose Scalfani Margiotta. She married Antonio Battillo on Jan. 17, 1948 in Brooklyn. Mr. Battillo predeceased her Aug. 5, 2009. She worked as a seamstress in the Garment District in New York City. Lillian was a communicant of St. Peter's Church, a member of its choir, and the Women's Auxiliary Roosevelt Fire Company #3. Mrs. Battillo was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Lillian is survived by her daughter Diana Heupler and husband, Stephen; son Robert A. Battillo, sister Josephine Aurigemma; two granddaughters Melanie Lewis and husband, Eric, and Kristin Lemaster and husband, Kelsey; grandson Matthew Heupler and fianc, Sonja Wojcio; two great- grandchildren Kyle Anthony Lewis and Kaden Thomas Lemaster; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Margiotta, and three sisters Diana Faraci, Anita Gray and RoseMarie Porzic. Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 299 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
