Marcia Skwish Obituary

Marcia A. Smargiassi Skwish ARCHBALD, PA.- Marcia A. Smargiassi Skwish, 79, of Archbald, Pa., formerly of Jefferson Township, died Thursday afternoon in Scranton, Pa. Her husband of 48 years, Joseph W. Skwish, passed away in January of 2008. Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Americus and Adamine Hetkowski Smargiassi. She was a graduate of Archbald High School. She worked at the Edward R. Crosby School in Lake Katrine, N.Y., first in the cafeteria, and then as a Reading Specialist Aide. After retirement, Joe and Marcia moved to Jefferson Township where they could be closer to their family. Marcia was a member of Queen of Angel’s Parish, Jessup. Marcia was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. She loved watching the birds and feeding the deer in her backyard. Her favorite pastime was doing jigsaw puzzles and there was not a puzzle around she could not master. She was an avid Penn State and Denver Broncos fan. Marcia lived every day for her three grandsons. She would do anything for them. They meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. Marcia had many miracles throughout her life and she deserved each and every one of them. She was an inspiration to everyone who was ever fortunate enough to cross her path. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen Tomaine, Archbald, Pa.; a son, Joseph Skwish, Elizaville, N.Y.; a brother, Americus Smargiassi and wife Aruelia, Eynon, Pa.; two sisters, Joyce Smargiassi Pawelski and husband Raymond, Eynon, Pa., and Donna Smargiassi, Eynon, Pa.; three grandsons, Ryan Tomaine and fiancé Lindsey, Bogart, Ga., Nicholas Tomaine, Raleigh, N.C., and Matthew Tomaine, Archbald, Pa.; a cousin and dear friend, Carol Sowinski and husband Leonard, Scott Twp., Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Marcia’s extended family at Willowbrook Place in Clarks Summit. They truly were part of her family and she loved them dearly. The funeral will be on Monday with mass of Christian burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Jessup. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends are asked to go directly to mass for 9:15 a.m. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the James M. Margotta Funeral Home.
