Paul Pagnozzi Obituary

Dr. Paul Joseph
Pagnozzi (Pags)
HURLEY- Dr. Paul Joseph Pagnozzi (Pags), 57, of Hurley, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston, N.Y.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1961 in Nyack, N.Y., and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Pagnozzi.
Paul was a graduate of Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia, N.Y., earned his Bachelor of Science from Manhattan College in Bronx, N.Y., graduated from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y., specializing in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. After retiring from his medical practice, Paul earned his Masters of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Dr. Pagnozzi was a founding partner of the Grand Street Medical Associates in Kingston, N.Y., retiring a year and a half ago. He was now working in the field of Environmental Engineering at Seed Solar and Engineering in Troy, N.Y., and was an Adjunct Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Paul was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, member of the Kingston Rotary Club, deeply involved with Alcoholics Anonymous, globe trotting engineer with Engineers Without Borders, professional mentor of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute chapter of Engineers Without Borders, founding member of the Rondout Rowing Club, and devoted member to the YMCA, especially his beloved YMCA Camps Seewackamano and Chingachgook. He sat on the boards of countless organizations and participated fully and enthusiastically in so many aspects of his communities.
Dr. Pagnozzi impacted the lives of so many and was universally adored by everyone who had the honor to meet him. He had varied and profound musical tastes and was a talented self taught pianist and guitarist who loved to jam with and for his friends and family. He was a world traveler and voracious reader who left stacks of books on every surface of his house. He loved the Adirondack Mountains and recently purchased property there to better enjoy this beloved region. He arguably loved his cat Dalton (Eep) more than his children and took great pride in showing off her fetching abilities to anyone visiting. Paul had a wicked, profound, and infectious sense of humor and was one of those rare individuals who could truly make anyone laugh in any situation. He had a phenomenal cowboy boot collection he proudly repaired himself over the years and was notorious for stomping down the halls of the hospital in them accompanied by booming laughter. He was the rock of stability and wisdom for countless people in his life and everyone who knew him is testament to the depth of love and gratitude he had for life.
He is survived by children, Leah Pagnozzi and Daniel Pagnozzi; his fiancé, Gail Young; his sister, Mia Pagnozzi; sister, Julie Pagnozzi; his former wife, Diane Page; and truly countless friends in all the corners of the world.
Entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, N.Y., 12401. The family will receive their friends on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 28 and 29, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Montrepose Cemetery.
For those who wish, in honor of Paul and in lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions be made to Engineers Without Borders, the YMCA Kingston and Ulster, and the Rotary Club of Kingston in Paul's memory.

December 5, 2018

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin Paul. I remember him always as a kind and gentle soul. The good Lord blessed him with intellect and intuity beyond his years. Skill and compassion. Patience and grace. A man of honor, kindness, generosity, respect, humor, and wit. I'm quite sure he left his footprints on the hearts of all those who's lives he touched, both personally and professionally. Reunited now with his beloved Mother, and finally............his Father. I am certain the three of them are sitting together on the shore of a beautiful lake in heaven, having a very intelligent yet lighthearted conversation.........catching up really. The smell of leather in the air from Paul's cowboy boots, and the roar of his laughter filling the hearts of all those he knew and loved who went before him. Cousin.......you studied hard and worked hard your
entire life, now.........it is time for you to rest.

Our sincerest sympathy and deepest condolences to his family and friends.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

I will never forget his heartfelt loving touch to my Dad who was so frightened of having to go on dialysis. Hopefully they will meet in heaven . Prayers and love to his family. We will miss you.

For more than 20 years, I entrusted my care to him because he was such a great doctor. I loved working in the same hospital he saw patients. So much fun to hear him coming down the hall, and you couldn't miss him. His laughter was infectious.
I also called him friend. He was kind, funny, full of life, and had a beautiful loving soul. Taken too soon, he will be missed.
Prayers for him and his family.

For over 25 years I entrusted my life to this wonderful man! He would call me at home to see how I was doing, and once told me,"No one dies on my watch." When I heard of his passing, I almost died within! We shared his love of music and books and after he quickly examined me, we would talk non-stop for ten minutes or more. He was a treasure to me. Words can not express my devotion to him as a Doctor and a man. My prayers are with his family and friends that will mourn him for a long time to come. I say to the Lord, "Thank you God for letting me have Dr. Pags in my life. Maybe I'll see him again if it be your Will, oh Lord! God has blessed us all in the knowing of this incredible man." A sincere friend Maurice Ed Bishop, Kingston, NY

You were a unique light to me and especially my husband, Bill. Your ongoing 'dispute' with my dog, Micah, still makes me smile when I recall the bark-outs you had while sitting on the floor during the Super Bowl Game, and every time you saw him. You made me laugh, you made me think. You will be missed. Farewell for now, Pag. Travel well.
