I just received the news about Ron's passing. He was an inspiration to me with his ease in playing in the upper register. From listening to him I was eventually able to extend my range. So Sorry.

This came as a real shock. I always respected Ron, not only for his musicianship, but his maturity which many of us lacked during our SU years. May god bless you, Dixie, in this difficult time.

I was so shocked and saddened when I learned of Ron's death. A tremendous loss. I have fun & fond memories of Ron in various musical situations (including his bass solo to my "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" not long ago) and the Ars Choralis trip to Europe in 2001. We'll all miss him greatly. So sorry.

One of the saddest days of my life was when I heard about Ron's tragic death. I was privileged to know him as my friend and to love him as my brother in Christ and co-laborer in ministry as his pastor from years gone by. He will be missed by all of us until we meet Jesus in the air! Praise the Lord!

Mr. Westervelt taught my daughter, Terese and son, Robert at the Woodstock School in the 1970s. Mr. Westervelt's love and dedication to the character of my children during that time is memorable. He brought out the very best in them, teaching them discipline, excellence and respect. I am eternally grateful.

Dear Westervelt Family,
My heart goes out to you for your terrible loss. I remember Mr. Westervelt as a wonderful teacher, musician and gifted member of the Onteora music community. I know that his many gifts and generous spirit were passed on to his children, as Ryan and Russell and I were bandmates throughout jr. high and high school, and their talent and kindness are so memorable. My deepest condolences to the entire family and all who knew and loved Ron. My heartfelt wishes for a speedy, full recovery for Dixie. With love, Debra Kreisberg

So many fond memories of serving Jesus together! Recently I had old video tapes converted to DVD and the first recording was the very first VBS we did together at Kingston Alliance Church-I believe it was 2006. I didn't even remember taping it. So wonderful to watch both Ron and Dixie serving Jesus by sharing the Good News through music. Paul and I have been praying for healing for Dixie and comfort for all the loved ones who will miss Ron so much. Praise God, he is safe in the arms of Jesus.

While I was not actually a student of Mr. Westervelt, I knew him through my association with the Onteora music program. His oldest son, Russel, and I, overlapped by a year. He was a kind man who always had a word of encouragement. I also shared an additional association with him, as we were both Syracuse alumni. He will be missed.
Russel and Ryan, I think I speak for all your friends from Onteora when I say that we have your and your mother's back. We're here for you in this difficult time. We are hoping for your mother's recovery, and please do not hesitate to reach out to any one of us.
