Amelia Billington Mancini

Amelia Billington Mancini AmsterdamAmelia Billington Mancini, 70, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday morning at the River Ridge Living Center with her loving family by her side. Amelia was born on June 15, 1943 in Amsterdam, NY; she was the daughter of Earl and Carmela Robilotto Billington. She was a 1961 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later received a business certificate from Schenectady County Community College. Amelia had been employed as an administrator at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam until retiring. She was a lifelong resident and was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and a former member of St. Michael's Church, Amsterdam. She was the founder of the areas first Parents Anonymous Group in Amsterdam and was a CSJ Associate with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She was also a member of the Columbiettes and the Police Officers Wives Auxiliary. Amelia loved to cook and cherished her time spent with her family. She also enjoyed caring for her many pets. On October 7, 1962 Amelia was united in marriage to her devoted husband, John A. Mancini. They celebrated over 51 years together. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Frank Mancini and his wife, Maureen of Clifton Park, NY, Joyce Nicholas and her husband, Paul of Broadalbin, NY, Diana Gabriel and her husband, Brian of Albany, NY; and Nicholas Mancini of Los Angeles, CA; her brother, Earl Bud (Janet) Billington of Decatur, TN; her sister, Diana (Tom) HoJohn of Hagaman, NY; sister-in-law, Linda Billington of Johnstown, NY; grandchildren, Jesse Smith, Kurt Smith, Zachary Mancini and Grace Mancini; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Donations may be made in Amelia's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA or to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam both in c/o the funeral chapel.
