Barbara M. Dubb

Barbara M. Dubb, 94, passed away on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 with her family by her side.

Born in Oneonta, Barbara was the daughter of the late Winford and Susan Cook and was a graduate of South Kortright High School.

Barbara was involved in many local businesses through the years. She was co-owner of Dubb Transportation, Rustic Loft and Harvey's off the Boulevard. Later in life she was the cafeteria night supervisor at Schenectady County Community College, retiring at the age of 86.

She was a beloved fixture at Manhattan Exchange, making all of their soups weekly and then when the work was done holding court at her corner seat at the bar.

Soups and baking were a few of Barbara's specialties. She was the winner of the first annual Schenectady Fire Department Chowder Fest, a title which she was very proud of. Barbara's baking skills were also top notch, making the best birthday cakes each year for all of her family members.

She was a diehard New York Yankees fan. Taking yearly trips to Yankee Stadium or catching the game at home, it was guaranteed that Barbara was always watching.

She also loved putting together 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles with her daughter, Cheryl, Sunday family dinners and watching and identifying the birds at her backyard feeders.

Barbara was an independent lady and loved her family and her neighbors dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Debra LaMalfa (Carl) and Cheryl Carney (Rob), her sister, Yvonne Gray (Warren) as well as several nephews and a niece.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with a service to follow at 12 p.m. Barbara will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
