Brian Ducharme Obituary

Brian Ducharme, 47, died peacefully at home in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 after a short battle with stomach cancer. Born June 6, 1974, in Schenectady, NY, Brian was the son of Paul Ducharme and the late Kathleen (Quinlivan) Ducharme. He grew up in Rotterdam, NY and was a 1992 graduate of Schalmont High School. Brian joined the Marines after high school and served until 2000. He was so proud to be a Marine and he fought his battle with cancer in true Marine spirit, to the end. He loved his motorcycles and riding with his wife and friends, whether it be around town, or on a dream trip out to Sturgis. Brian was a thoughtful, loving and generous person who would give you the shirt off of his back. He had a great sense of humor and wit. He loved his family more than anything and truly cherished the friendships he had made over the years, which was evident with the friends who surrounded him with love and prayers in his final days. Brian is survived by his wife Shannon (Case) Ducharme, and his step-daughter Destiny Simpson (Hamza), who helped to make sure he was comfortable in his final days. Brian shared many happy memories with them all. Along with his father, Paul Ducharme, he leaves behind his sister Stephanie (Billy), his niece Kristina Cappuccitti (Brian), his nephew and godson Matt Cappuccitti (Teyana) and his great nephew Eli Cappuccitti, all who brought so much joy to his life. And little Eli's smile that helped him through his toughest last days. He also leaves behind his cherished aunts and uncles, Pat Edwards, Denise and Robert Boehlert and Claire and Bill Burchell. And his cousins whom he loved like siblings and who gave him so many memories through the years, Erin Edwards Espey (Ricky), Ryan Edwards (Michele), Katelyn Edwards (Austin), Keira Espey, and Jack and Kenzie Edwards. Brian will be laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday. June 6, 2022. Donations in Brian's memory can be made to the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program.
