Daniel Diamond Obituary

Daniel P. Diamond died suddenly at the age of 71, after a lengthy battle with respiratory issues, at the Stratton VA Hospital. He served in the Vietnam War as a gunner mate on the USS White River. After being “Honorable discharged, he returned to Schenectady, working at the Ritz as head chief. He was co-owner of Danny’s Restaurant and soon after, changed professions to plumber assistant with TJ Maloney and Son’s Plumbing and Heating. He relocated to Oklahoma where he received his Master Plumber license before returning to Schenectady and working for General Mechanics. He loved to teach, serve and give of his time especially to his Homestyle Pizza family. He also was a lifetime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He had a great love for watching sports and gambling which always resulted in his famous words of losing by “one basket, one field goal or a half a point. Stewart’s was his go to for coffee, scratch-offs and meeting friends. More than anything, he loved his family and friends with all his heart. Dan is survived by his long-time love of 42 years, Kathleen Maloney, eight children, Michelle (Alex), Daniel (Summer), Wayne (Athena), Katrina (Dan), Justin (Yasmiry), Dana, Brian, Paul (Melissa), six siblings, Nancy, Charles, Faye, Lester, Wayne, Timothy, 19 grandchildren, Noah, Kaili, Daniel, Hiro, Taku, Joshua, Cole, Tristan, Maximus, Ren, Molly, Emma, Star, Maeve, Jacob, Ariana, Yanisha, Wayne, Sammi, and one great grandchild, Araya. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be in the spring in Bramanville Prospect Cemetery, Cobleskill, NY. Dan’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Saaed Kahn at Schenectady Pulmonary and the VA Network.
