Ernst Hipp Obituary
Ernst was born in July 1936 in Walenstadt, Switzerland. He attended the Engeneur Schule Mannheim, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ernst worked at General Electric, leading projects around the world until retiring from the gas turbine division in 2006. Ernst was an avid hobbyist photographer and was actively involved in his church at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, and the Knights of Columbus, where he held roles of Grand Knight, District Deputy, and Chairman of the benevolent fund.
Ernst is survived by his children Antonia Quinn (David) of Brooklyn, NY and Andrew Hipp of Boston, MA, two grandchildren Isabella and Oliver, a sister Charlotte Hipp of Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and his ex-wife Ilse Hipp of Osterville, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernst and Elisabeth Hipp.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1801 Union Street, Niskayuna on Saturday August 27th at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.
Memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany.
